Paul Morwood Nelson Jr., 72, of Splendora, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021. He was born on Wednesday, July 28, 1948 in Houston, Texas to Paul Morwood Nelson and Gladys Laverne (Watson) Nelson, both of whom have preceded him in death. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 52 years Diane Nelson; daughters, Marsha Biddle and husband Dennis, and Heather Hartley and husband Phillip; brother, Parr Nelson and wife Ellen; sister, Ruth Flournoy and husband Paul; along with numerous other loving family and treasured friends.
Paul was a devoted husband and father to his family, and a helpful, reliable friend to everyone he knew. He was a hard worker and owned his own air conditioning business, Nelsonair, for 35 years, and retired in 2017. He was a true craftsman and was proficient in many fields - he was an electrician, carpenter, welder, mechanic, worked on computers, and loved playing the guitar. He attended Southern bible college from 1968-1970 when he enlisted in the Navy where he was a lay leader on his ship during Vietnam and was stationed in Long Beach, CA. He lived and worked in California as a counselor at Doxa, a Christian drug rehabilitation center.
He was always a faithful member at every church he attended throughout the years, and loved to lead praise and worship and teach Sunday School. He was an ordained minister for 17 years and a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He led many people to the Lord through his ministry and witnessing. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it, whether it meant donating his time, prayer, counseling, or finances. He will be sorely missed here on earth by his family, friends, and the Body of Christ.
A memorial celebration of life service in Paul's honor will be held on Monday, July 12, 2021 at New Beginning Baptist Church at 2:00 pm. Interment for Paul will take place at the Houston National Cemetery at a later date. Rev. Larry Riggins officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the church for the building fund.
All services were handled under the trusted care of Neal Funeral Home.
