Lewis C. Humphrey

Lewis C. Humphrey was born January 19, 1927 in Homer, Louisiana, the second born of ten children, to the late Rev. Gilford W. Humphrey and Mrs. Lucy (Sweetwine) Humphrey. Lewis went to his Heavenly Home on April 29, 2019 at the age of 92. He obtained is High School education in Homer, Louisiana then afterwards attended Arkansas AM&N and Wiley College where he majored in Agriculture. Lewis served his country in the US Army during WWII. He loved to travel and read. Lewis settled in Phoenix, Arizona until his health started to decline, so he moved to Cleveland, Texas with his family. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Gilford W. Humphrey Jr., Frank Samuel Humphrey and William G. Humphrey; 2 sisters, Rose Marie Wysinger and Eula Gallerson. Lewis leaves to cherish his memories by 1 son, Marion A. Humphrey and wife Vernita; grandson, Marion A. Humphrey Jr.; sisters, Lillian Matthews, Grace Youngblood, Helen Aubrey and Pauline Humphrey; and a host of nieces and nephews, family and friends. Visitation will be at Neal Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 6-8 pm. Graveside Service will be Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 1:45 pm at the Houston National Cemetery, with Full Military Honors provided by the Houston Honor Guard. Special acknowledgement to Tina Humphrey for all the love and care she provided and to Texas Elite Hospice.
